The Peace Prayer

Dear Anthony-

(MGBTTT) August 17th, 2005

I sit here upon my bed in your uncle's house. Kindly, he has made room for me in his home and his life, sharing with each other, the fruits of our labor.

He cares for three dogs. Their names are Gigi, Dante and Baby.

I spend the most time with Baby, a black and white pit bull with the markings of a cow. Although tonight, I was surrounded by all three and Saint Francis of Assisi came to my mind.

Below, you will find the Peace Prayer. Attributed to St. Francis of Assisi, but not written by him. This prayer was found in Normandy in 1915 and its author is unknown.

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.

Where there is hatred, let me bring love.
Where there is injury, let me bring pardon.
Where there is discord, let me bring union.
Where there is doubt, let me bring faith.
Where there is error, let me bring truth.
Where there is despair, let me bring hope.
Where there is sadness, let me bring joy.
Where there is darkness, let me bring light.

O Divine Master,
grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand,
to be loved as to love.

For it is in giving that we receive.
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned.
It is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Warmth and love,
Dad
